Daily Devotional: 1/21/19

Romans 8:2-3 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh.

This road we walk as God loving men and women is not an easy road, but it is a delightful and privileged way: it's a treasure hunt! And He is the treasure. But this doesn't mean hardships aren't a part of the journey too. Some times will be worse than others. But even when you are at your worse, when you feel like you can't clean yourself up, when you feel there's nothing anything could want to do with you, right at that moment, that's when Christ says, "I want you. You are the one I want."

It's one of the most beautiful things. To stand before Jesus, completely exposed, all of our flaws and insecurities and sins are right there in front of his face. And against all reason and rationale, Jesus looks at us with grace. He declares us beautiful. Spotless. Righteous. Justified. We are SET FREE. This is what the gospel is. That we are not defined by what we've done but by what Christ did for us. And that is just simply beautiful.
